Active status

Users with Active status have been approved to access the system or were added to  the system via the User Profile screen or the batch import process. The Active status  indicates that the user account is active.

Advisory priority level

An \"Advisory\" priority level indicates the health message provides important informationfor a specific incident or situation, which may not require immediate action.

Alert priority level

An \"Alert\" priority level indicates the health message has the highest level of importanceand warrants immediate action or attention by public health officials.

Alias

A short acronym used for the name of an organization (e.g., PDH4 for Public Health District 4 (Central Health District).

Anonymous User

A user who either has not registered on Idaho HAN, or who has registered but has  not logged on to Idaho HAN. An Anonymous User is limited to read-only rights in Idaho HAN. An example of an Anonymous User is a member of the community  who navigates to the Idaho HAN web site and browses health messages and news items.

Archived health message

A health message that was sent to recipients over 30 days ago.

Deleted status

Users with Deleted status have been deleted by the themselves or by a System or Organization  Administrator. A Deleted user must be kept in the system because of data integrity  reasons (e.g., they have created a health message or posted a news item). A Deleted  user cannot log on to the HAN system.

Denied status

Users with Denied status submitted an application to access the HAN system but  weredenied access for some reason. A Denied user will be retained in the system for asystem-defined period of 60 days before his or her account is deleted from the system.A Denied user cannot log on to the HAN system.

Draft health message

A health message that has been saved, but has not yet been sent to recipients.

External health district roles

Any of the following user roles supported by the HAN system which are external to the Idaho health districts: Primary Care Provider, Specialist, Nurse, Other Medical, Veterinarian, Dentist, Pharmacy, Other Agency/Business, First Responder, Political, Other Public Health, and Media.

filtering

A process of searching for health messages or news items by specifying message parameters such as Message Status, Subject, Sent By, or Date sent. A Boolean AND operation can also be applied to further narrow the search.

Health message

An electronic communication, transmitted via email or fax, which alerts the public health community to public health threats, or advises or updates the public health community with critical public health information.

Help desk

A group of information specialists for the Idaho HAN system who provide end-user support for the system.

Home page

The first web page on the HAN system that appears when a user click the Home link on the navigation bar.

Inactive status

Users with Inactive status have been automatically inactivated by the system because  of three consecutive failed log on attempts. An Inactive user cannot log on to the  HAN system, but  will continue to receive health messages.

Info priority level

An \"Info\" priority level indicates the health message provides only system-related information.

Internal health district roles

Any of the following user roles supported by the HAN system which are internal to the Idaho health districts: District Directors, Epidemiologist, Family Health Director, Community Health Director, Environmental Health Director, BT Program Manager, Immunization Program Coordinator, Food Program Coordinator, and Public Information Officer.

Log off

A process in which a user disables access to the  HAN system.

Log on

A process in which a user enters their user ID and password to enable access to the HAN system.

News item

An electronic communication, transmitted via email or fax, which informs the public about new health promotions and illness prevention.

Organization Administrator

A user who can perform all tasks within his or her assigned organization only. An Organization Administrator can assign the following user types to all users within his or her own organization: Organization Administrator, Organization Super User, Organization User, and Registered User.

Organization Super User

A user who can create, update and send health messages, and create and post news items for his or her assigned organization only.

Organization User

A user who can create and update health messages and news items for his or her assigned organization only.

Password

A user-unique word that can be used to log onto the HAN system. The password is limited to8 to 20 characters and is case-sensitive.

Pending status

Users with Pending status have either (1) requested access to the system via the  registration process and are waiting for the Organization Administrator to grant  or deny them access to the system or (2) changed organization affiliations and are  waiting for the new Organization Administrator to approve the change to the new organization.  In either case, users with Pending status cannot log on to the HAN system.

Primary role

A user's initial external health district role which is defined during registration on the HAN system.

Private health message

A health message that can be viewed its recipients  and specific users, based on their user types and organization.

Public health message

A health message that can be viewed by anyone in the public health community, including all user types and anyone who accesses the Idaho HAN web site.

Recipient

A user who, because of their user role, their status in the health community, or their need to know the contents of a specific health message, has been selected by the creator of a health message to receive the health message via the first contact method listed in their user profile.

Registered User

A user who can receive health messages generated by Idaho HAN, but does not have any other access rights, such as creating and sending health messages. An example of a Registered User is a physician who receives health messages via e-mail.

Sent health message

A health message that has been sent to recipients within the last 30 days.

sorting

A process of ordering health messages or news items by clicking on the following column headings  to sort them in ascending or descending order: Message ID, Subject, Sent By, or Date.

State roles

Any of the following user roles supported by the HAN system which are specific to the state of Idaho: State Epidemiologist, Health Policy/Vital Statistics Bureau Chief, PHP Program Manager, Lab Director, Clinical Preventive Services Bureau Chief, Environmental Health Bureau Chief, Department Public Information Officer, Division Administrator, EMS Communications Center, Immunization Program Manager, Bioterrorism Health Education Specialist, Lab Micro Supervisor, Toxicologist, and Food Program Manager.

Subject

A health message subject is a short description of the contents of a health message, including an update number (if it is an update), the type of health threat, and the location of the health threat. A news item subject is a short description of the contents of a news item, including the news item of interest and possible applications to the public health community.

System-assigned fields

Fields on a page or form that are assigned by the Idaho HAN system and cannot be changed by a user.

System Administrator

One of a limited number of special users who can perform all tasks for all organizations defined in Idaho HAN. A System Administrator can assign all user types, including other System Administrators, across all organizations. A System Administrator also has access rights to perform system-level administrativetasks in Idaho HAN.

System log

A list of entries that indicate functions that were performed on the HAN system, the date and time when the function was performed, the person who performed the function, a unique log ID code, and a link to log details.

Update priority level

An \"Update\" priority level indicates the health message provides updated informationregarding an incident or situation, which is unlikely to require immediate action.

User ID

A user-unique identification code that can be used to log onto the HAN system. The codeis limited to 8 to 20 characters but is not case-sensitive.

User profile

A set of information unique to a user in the HAN system, including account information, account activity, user information, organization information, contact information (email or Fax), and assigned roles.

The first web page on the HAN system that appears when a user types the URL for the Idaho HAN web site in their default internet browser.
