Seven cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms have been reported in Idaho recreational waters this summer as of 8/13/2024. The attached document, "Cyanobacterial Harmful Algal Bloom (CyanoHAB) and Cyanotoxin Poisoning: Information for Idaho Veterinarians" provides information on cyanoHABs, assessing exposure history, clinical signs and treatment of cyanotoxin poisoning, clinical testing (including a new pilot program through the Division of Public Health in cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), reporting suspected cyanoHABS and cyanotoxin poisoning in animals, and resource links (clinical and Idaho-specific).
